The Gospel

It's all about the gospel.

The gospel is about hope. Without the gospel, we would have no reason to meet together as a church. So what is the "gospel"? Simply put, the gospel means "Good News."

All people seek truth. It is common today for everyone to have their own truth, for people to do and believe what is right in one's own eyes. However, the Bible informs us that His Word is truth (John 17:17). Scripture tells us that when people love anything more than God, they have exchanged the truth of God for a lie (Rom 1:25).

The gospel rescues us from that lie. Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). It is through Jesus alone that we have this "good news."

Jesus lived a perfect life. He died to pay for the wrongs we have done (2 Cor 5:21). What a great exchange! He takes our sins, and we take all his goodness. That is indeed good news; that is the gospel.

So how does one receive the gospel? "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Rom 10:9). God then changes us and allows our lives to bring glory to Him.
